3M Drinking Water Filtration is now Aqua-Pure™ Water Filtration

3M Drinking Water Filtration is now Aqua-Pure™ Water Filtration. While the name has changed, everything you trust — innovation, reliability, and protection — stays the same. What Is NSF Certification?

Products that earn an NSF certification are said to be “NSF certified” or “NSF listed”, and display the applicable NSF certification mark to show that they have been tested by one of the most respected independent product safety testing organizations.

NSF 42

NSF 42 is an industry standard that certifies water filtration systems/filters for aesthetic effects. It verifies that a filter is structurally sound, safe for drinking water contact, and effectively reduces non-health-related impurities like chlorine, chloramines, taste, odor, and/or particulate matter.

NSF 53

NSF 53 is an industry standard that certifies water filteration systems/filters are designed to reduce health-related contaminants, including lead, asbestos, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), mercury, and/or microbial cysts.

NSF 372

NSF is an industry standard that certifies plumbing products contain a weighted average of ≤ 0.25% lead on wetted surfaces. It ensures compliance with the U.S. Safe Drinking Water Act.

NSF 401

NSF 401 is a certification standard that verifies a water filter's ability to remove specific "emerging contaminants". These are trace-level pollutants not yet heavily regulated by the EPA, including pharmaceuticals, microplastics, pesticides, and/or other chemicals.

Integrated Membrane Pre-Activated Carbon Technology (I.M.P.A.C.T.) Filtration Media

The AP-DWS1000LF also features Solventum's revolutionary Integrated Membrane Pre-Activated Carbon Technology (I.M.P.A.C.T.) media technology, which consists of multiple media filtration layers to provide safe restaurant quality filtered water, while removing corrosive chemicals and abrasive sediment that lessen the lifespan of expensive foodservice equipment, including pumps, valves, O-rings and equipment seals.

I.M.P.A.C.T filtration technology combines a patented microporous, pharmaceutical-grade membrane combined with a patented pre-activated polycarbon block core, all within a single cartridge. Together, they provide a unique dual-zone water filtration environment proven to dramatically reduce pressure drops and eliminate the need for prefiltration.

The dual zone, microporous nylon membrane features two different porous sizes, resulting in a built-in pleated sediment pre-filter with single-membrane thickness. Proven to reduce both cysts and bacteria, the membrane provides a physical barrier while the carbon both features a bacteria inhibition agent to further reduce bacteria numbers. Together, the membrane and the carbon block remove 99.99 percent of heterotrophic water-borne bacteria.

  • Polycarbon block releases virtually no carbon fines
  • Membrane surface area is significantly greater than competitor alternatives
  • Carbon block features a proprietary scale inhibitor
  • A single cartridge design eliminates the need for multiple cartridges or the need for a manifold system (in most applications)

*Reduction of Water-borne bacteria as demonstrated with 99.99% reduction of surrogate organism E. coli (ATCC 11229) and P. fluorescens (ATCC 49642) in manufacturer’s lab test.
