The old one was generating a lot of black grime. Figured it was time to replace it.

I was unable to unscrew the housing even with the plastic wrench provided. I was afraid that the housing would break and I would need to call an emergency plumber. So I may need to schedule with a plumber to attempt to replace the filter.
I've been using 2 AP117 filters for five years as a whole house filtration filter and they work well in reducing sediment and greatly improving the taste of our water. I also used for 15 years in a previous house as an under the kitchen sink filter with the same great results.

Excellent filters that reduce scale and hard water deposits. Drinking water is crystal clear and dishwasher dries glasses almost spot-free if we forget the rinse aid. Great to see every 6 months the red-brown color and knowing the filter is doing its job. Very happy with these.
I have been using these for several years. The change in the taste and smell of water is very noticeable. We use an RO filter for drinking water and adding this filter to the whole house greatly improves the taste of the water from the RO filter. I have been so impressed that I've recommended to several friends, who have also been impressed, and installed on my children's homes.
